![]() ![]() Since is was a Sunday and it looked like replacing it would solve the problem, I decided to try to repair the sensor. This pointed to the sun load sensor on the dashboard. I checked here, did the EATC diagnostic which returned the codes 051 & 053. It reacts to light changes, turning lights on and off depending on evironmental light. The EATC was acting up and the automatic lights were always on. I used AppCar DiagFCA software with an OBDLink ScanTool SXĪfter following all the steps, you have activated Auto-Head Lights option. Lastly you need to activate Auto-Headlamp option in the computer. Install back pillar cover, Radio and A/C cover and steering column cowl.Plug Sunload sensor and install new defroster grille.Pins 2 and 3 of the sunload sensor are not used.Pin 4 of the Sunload sensor goes to the pin 10 of HVAC control.Pin 1 of the Sunload sensor goes to the pin 9 of HVAC control.Cut to size the wiring from the defroster, solder and isolate. It is needed to pull a white tab from the front of the connector Insert the 2 pins on positions 9 and 10 of your original's HVAC control. For me, it helped to remove glove box, as you can almost reach defroster with your hand Pass the wire from right side of the defroster exhaust to the HVAC control connector. For this you need to remove windshield's pillar cover too. Remove the Radio and A/C cover, unplug HVAC connector. From the donor HVAC pigtail, remove 2 pins.Leave other end open for cutting the right length in the HVAC control. Prepare a wire for sensor, with AWG 22 approx. Please be sure you plug the connector back firmly: The first time I did not do it and it was not recognizing the switch, starting lights and wippers as if they had own life. Is quite easy, only 3 bolts on the steering's column cowl, another bolt on the switch itself and some patience and care. Electrically it works, however the feeling of the rotary controls is too soft, also has some play on the directionals, so I've ended purchasing an original stal. Originally I've purchased the stalk from Standard Motors CBS-1763. It has 4 connectors and one of them work for the Patriot HVAC control I've found the complete defroster grille from a 2016 Patriot on eBay, including the sunload sensor and pigtail.įor HVAC connector, I've found on eBay the climate's control pigtail of a 08-10 Town & Country. This is to connect 2 missing pins on HVAC control Defroster grille with the mounting bezel for the sensor. In case your ride does not, neet the correct stalk). Left multifunction Swich, including AUTO and Fog lights (My Pat has fog lights.HVAC is the part receiving signal from a sunload sensor This function is controlled, in part, by the HVAC control. This requires both parts and programming on car's computer I've succesfully added automatic headlights to my 2011 Patriot Sport FWD. ![]()
